Dr. Winifred Frick

Chief Scientist at Bat Conservation International, Dr. Frick (Fred) is a world-renowned bat expert and researcher with expertise in disease ecology, the impacts of white-nose syndrome and evolutionary biology at UC Santa Cruz. 

Corky Quirk

Corky is the founder of NorCal Bats, as well as the program coordinator for the Yolo Basin foundation. She hosts educational programs and bat viewing events along the Yolo Causeway - home to 250,000 bats. She also rehabs sick and injured bats in a back room of her house.

Dr. Kristin Jonasson

Dr. Jonasson is a research scientist focused on the physiological ecology of bats. She’s also a talented artist who enjoys exploring the underground caverns that bats call home. Kristin played a key role on Operation Fat Bat in Michigan.

Dr. Alyson Brokaw

Dr. Brokaw is a behavioral ecologist, science communicator (BCI Blog, TikTok) and author of The Weird and Wonderful World of Bats. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at Lehigh University.

Dr. Alice Chung-MacCoubrey

Dr. Chung-MacCoubrey ran the Inventory and Monitoring program for the National Park Service, which included monitoring the spread of white-nose syndrome. She was the first to identify the presence of WNS in California.

Dr. Kevin Olival

Dr. Olival is the former VP of research at EcoHealth Alliance. He is one of the world’s leading experts on bat-born viruses. His work has informed global policy on the prevention and mitigation of pandemics.

Dr. Eyal Frank

Dr. Frank is an environmental economist at the University of Chicago. He works at the intersection of ecology and economics to identify the costs associated with biodiversity loss. His work shows that as bat populations decline, infant mortality increases.
